Wise, who was speaking after the 1-1 with West Ham United at the weekend, has made it clear that he wants to stay, but he has already had a very public falling-out with Burnige over what he believes to be a lack of investment in the current squad.
"I need to have a chat with the new chairman at the end of the season, and find out what route he wants to take," Wise said.
"I want to stay. I have enjoyed myself here, I am ambitious and I want to try to get the club out of this division.
"But you need help, and if you don't get much of that, it makes it very difficult."
