The former Lions striker was originally promised a benefit match by then chairman Theo Paphitis at the start of the 2004/05 season but struggled to find suitable opposition after the police put the kybosh on a proposed game against Celtic.
Now a date in August has been earmarked for Sadlier and the club and player are awaiting confirmation from the Premiership club that have agreed to take part.
Understandably, Sadlier is keen for the game to finally go ahead.
"The current Millwall regime have been very helpful," he told the South London Press. "But other issues, like reaching the FA Cup Final, have understandably got in the way.
"Even with the club's support it has proved very frustrating to arrange. There were seven clubs suggested initially, but our links with them ended as time went on.
"And if I don't get someone for this pre-season, I will have to wait another year. I just need a club to commit to a particular date."
