With everyone inside The Den willing him on - with the exception of a handful of Rotherham United fans - Neil Harris wrote his way into the record books after just 16 minutes when he poked him his 94th League goal on his home debut.
"I played it down as much as I could," said the striker after the game. "But when it came, so early in the game, in front of the supporters here was a magical moment for me right up there for me with my goal at Watford a few years ago."
The goal seemed to inspire the side, who turned in an impressive display as they thumped the visitors 4-0 - the club's biggest win for a number of years.
"I'm just pleased for everyone who was here and the people who couldn't make it," he continued. "It was such a special moment, especially for the fans who gave me such a fantastic reception today again."
And boss Willie Donachie had nothing but praise for Harris.
"I am really pleased for Neil," he said. "He deserves it. In his two games he has been the perfect example of commitment to the club. I spoke to him a couple of times before I signed him and he seemed really committed and a good person.
"He understood if he was not in the team and said he would play anywhere because he was desperate to come back. The front two were a great example of honesty and unselfish work and that spread to the rest of the team.
"I always know Darren is going to score goals and he's got a lot of quality. We can still play a lot better, but we are definitely going in the right direction."
The manager will now be hoping that his side can carry-on where they left against Northamtpon Town tomorrow evening.
