In what can only be described as one of the oddest name-checks in recent times, UEFA Preseident Michel Platini decided to use Millwall to launch a scathing attack on the transfer policy of Arsenal's Arsene Wenger and other such clubs who poach youngsters from other teams.

In an interview with the BBC, the former French midfielder used The Lions to illustrate his concerns regarding lower League clubs and their inability to compete with the big names.

"I do not like the system of Arsene Wenger," he stated. "In France, Italy and Spain it is easy to buy with money the best players at 14, 15 or 16. I don't like that."

"If the best clubs buy the best 15 or 16 players that is finished for all the clubs in Europe.

"If my son is playing at Millwall and at 16 Manchester come in for this player then when will Millwall have a good team?"

The club have yet to announce whether or not Platini's son is actually on his way to The Den but having lost three promising youngsters to Liverpool, Chelsea and Portsmouth in recent months, his point will not be lost on those that follow The Lions.
