Richard Shaw's reserve side dished out an eleven goal thrashing against an unfortunate Lewes side in a reserve game at The Den this afternoon.
Striker John Marquis bagged himself a hattrick and finished the game with four goals to his name while Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Danny Spiller and Chris Hackett all hit a brace with Ahmet Brkovic completing the scoring for The Lions.
Such was the domination of the homeside that manager Richard Shaw could even afford to field 15-year-old schoolboy Jamie Farmer between the sticks for the last twenty minutes of the game.
"It wasn't the fault of Lewes," Shaw told the club's official website after the game. "We will get tougher games than this. It would be easy to dismiss matches like this, but we have got something out of it.
"We were 7-0 ahead at half-time and I said to the lads that they have to keep going. We had some senior boys like Danny Spiller, Richard Duffy, Chris Hackett and Ali Fuseini all playing 90 minutes along with some of the younger lads such as John Marquis, Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Danny Fitzsimons and Pat O'Connor playing alongside them.
"It is all good experience for them. At this stage of the season it is all about attitude and when it got to five or six I was only concerned about just that. Ours was spot on."
