Hackett: Back in contention
Chris Hackett and Danny Spiller will be looking to make up for lost time after missing most of last season through injury and manager Kenny Jackett is looking forward to working with them "in anger" for the first time.

Having made an explosive start to his Lions career, Spiller picked up a groin injury just a few games in to the 2007/08 campaign while Hackett struggled throughout with a cruciate ligament problem. Neither has played under Jackett since he was appointed manager last November and the manager is looking forward to working with the pair.

"I haven't actually seen Danny Spiller and Chris Hackett in a Millwall shirt yet," he told the Newsshopper. "They have good attitudes, both of them, and are talented players in training.

"Coming off the back of long-term injuries, they will need some time but I'm sure both have futures. I like them both as characters as they are serious minded and good professionals."

Jackett also admitted that he has been pleased with the way his squad has repsonded to a rigorous pre-season training schedule.

"I'm pleased with the attitude and the fitness of the players," he continued. "The players have worked very hard initially and as the games have gone along, our football has improved."
