Liam Trotter handed the Londoners the lead midway through the first half and they were unfortunate not to increase their advantage before the break.
However, Portsmouth were resurgent after the restart and deservedly equalised through David Nugent, albeit in fortuitous circumstances as he turned in Liam Lawrence's mishit shot to deny the Lions only a second victory at Fratton Park in 18 attempts.
"I did think it was about a fair result," Jackett said after the game. "We had the first half, Portsmouth had the second. That is how I see it.
"While we could make a case for saying we should have built on the first half and had more opportunities, et cetera, et cetera, they did come back at us strongly.
"It was just about a fair result. I talked to the players and asked them whether they could impose themselves, play around them in the second half like they did in the first."
