The popular defender will miss the final after tearing medial ligaments and fracturing his leg during the Semi-Final against Sunderland in April and will be out of the game for at least four months.
Muscat is wearing a special brace to keep the weight off of his injury but that didn't stop him getting measure up for a suit along with the rest of the squad. But despite missing out on the final, the Australian international is not bitter.
"I don't suppose there's a bigger disappointment than to miss an occasion like this through injury, but I'm not beating myself up over it," said the Millwall skipper.
"It just happened to be me. It was my turn this time. Being asked by (Millwall manager) Dennis Wise to lead the team out is nice for me because it gives me a chance to be involved."
"The medial ligament came off the bone, the tibia was fractured and they had to trim the meniscus (disc of cartilage), but I was relieved because the cruciate ligaments were still intact," he said.
Muscat fell foul to a crunching tackle by Sunderland's George McCartney but admits that it was just one of those things
"There was nothing personal in it. I wasn't being singled out. There was a big prize for the winners and there were tackles going on everywhere."
