Millwall Football Club have taken the unprecedented step of closing applications to their membership scheme. The move was announced late last night in a brief statement on the club's official website without any prior warning to supporters.
Although many have welcomed the move, some are upset about not being forewarned and are now worried that they may miss out on tickets for the forthcoming play-off games, possibly against Leeds United.
However, following crowd trouble against Derby County in 1994 and Birmingham City in 2002 the club appear to be taking steps to try and avoid a repeat of those scenes by making it harder for those intent on trouble - including away fans - to obtain tickets.
The Lions play-off place was confirmed at the weekend, despite losing 4-2 to Bristol Rovers.
