Millwall Chairman Theo Paphitis has promised manager Mark McGhee cash to buy new players following the sale of Steven Reid to Blackburn Rovers.

With around £3 million in the kitty following Reid's £2.5 million move plus cash raised through a recent share issue, the Lions boss will be looking to make some significant signings before the new season starts but Paphitis insists that they will not rush out and spend money on just anybody.

"Mark and I know the fans sometimes get a little impatient regarding new signings but we are not in a rush to give away money," said Paphitis.

"We will sign the right players in the right positions."

After failing to land Crewe striker Rob Hulse, Millwall are still on the lookout for a striker and currently have Arsenal midfielder Juan on trial, together with an un-named Juventus player.
