With prices for players in England soaring out of control despite the apparent credit crunch, it appears Millwall Football Club have returned to one of their favourite hunting grounds in the search for new talent - The Republic of Ireland.
According to reports in the Irish press, The Lions have been tracking one or two players over the past couple of weeks in the hope of uncovering the next Richard Sadlier or Mark Kennedy but have had mixed fortunes when to comes to trying to lure them to The Den.
The Irish Daily Mirror reported an interest in Drogheda United striker Eamon Zayed but he has apparently turned down a move to London in favour of joining the wonderfully named Sporting Fingal.
But it seems The Lions' scouts have got no further than checking out Drogheda because the Irish Sun have also linked us with midfielder Paul Keegan, thirty-odd years after Millwall failed to lure his namesake Kevin away from Scunthorpe United because the then chairman didn't want to fork out another £5,000!
We at Millwall Mad await further developments with interest...
