Colin Lee is expected to name his assistant manager later this week, with former Southampton boss Dave Merrington believed to be favourite for the position.
Lee has already met one prospective candidate for the job and planned to meet a second on Saturday, but by Sunday morning, Merrington was rumoured to leading the running by several of the Sunday tabloids.
"My plan is to add two people to the backroom staff," Lee said. "It's vital that when I'm not around, the club continues to run as if I am."
Former Fulham boss Paul Bracewell, who worked alongside Lee at Walsall, may also be offered a coaching role at The Den.
