Lacey, who has only ever attending two games despite owning 28.9% of the club, was seeking a bigger say in how the club was run by the board - despite rejecting invites to join it - particularly their approach to the regeneration scheme. But his request was rejected by the board, who fear Lacey doesn't
"The motions proposed would make it impossible to manage this club," said Heather Rabbatts in statement released on the club's website. "One has to question his motives for trying to impose restrictions on us."
"The calling of these meetings would probably cost the club between £40,000 and £50,000 each time. We would have to call these meetings any time we wanted to do anything related to property.
"We are involved in a range of discussions with regeneration plans for the area and when we look to form different views and decide on our approach these resolutions seem to suggest that we would have to go and consult shareholders."
Millwall's chairman John Berylson added: "We will take every necessary step to fight this proposal.
"Mr Lacey is trying to use his minority stake in Millwall to wrest control of the club and the company away from the board and prevent us from implementing our plans for the further development of the club."
