Reports on Wednesday claimed the Reds had offered £2million for the 27-year-old, who has scored 10 goals this season.
"I've had no call or bid at all from Nottingham Forest, the club who have been mentioned in the papers," manager Kenny Jackett told the News Shopper. "I'm sure it is just speculation in the run up to January and the transfer window opening.
"Whether then in January there will be something when it opens, I don't know. But as we stand at the moment it is not a situation where I would be encouraging it anyway.
"We want to try and keep our good players and try to build and improve on our squad ourselves. We don't want to be a selling club.
"Our stand so far on Steve has been if a Premier League club comes in then we will see, but another Championship club is not something we would be interested in."
