The two sides shared a 1-1 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Friday night, a draw which wrecked third-placed City`s hopes of climbing into the top two in the second tier for the first time in 27 years.
The Swans only won promotion from League One in 2007/08 but have challenged for a play-off place in successive seasons, narrowly missing out last term, before their assault on automatic promotion this time around.
And with the Lions having similarly come up from the third tier last season to find themselves on the fringes of the top six, Jackett insists the Swansea mould is one he is looking to replicate.
"Swansea are a very good side, they are an established Championship club, a club we would like to emulate having just come up from League One because they`ve been challenging at the top end, that`s what we want to aspire to," he said.
"It`s also a new division to us, I know we came here three years ago but we`re learning all the time about each side, whether we can do it consistently. Which players, which system to play. It`s learning for us and making sure we capitalise on our strengths, all with the aim of perhaps emulating Swansea and establishing ourselves in this division."
