The Foxes slumped to their ninth defeat on the road this season after goals from Steve Morison and Jason Puncheon secured a deserved win for the Lions.
Leicester fought back from two goals down to snatch a point from Leeds, but showed little sign of a repeat performance despite playing against 10 men for more than half an hour following Alan Dunne's dismissal as they slumped to a ninth defeat on the road this term.
"It was a big result for us and a great way to end the year," beamed Jackett.
"Leicester are a very strong side with a lot of good players and we did very well to overcome that. We showed fantastic heart and character and I was very pleased with the way played when we went down to 10 men and we found the 11th man."
He added: "My first impression of the sending-off was that it was the right decision."
