The centre half suffered a pelvic injury against Bradford City back in December and had hoped to make a quick return by club Physio Terry Standring has told the player that he won't be back anytime soon.
"Zak's got a condition that affects the front of his pelvis where two bones meet," explained the physio.
"It's not an injury that has specifically been caused by a knock in a game, but one of those things that has degenerated a bit over a period of time, so he is having to take it a bit easy.
"We are focusing on strengthening him up around his core, midline, area, so that he will be stronger to resist any forces when he gets back playing.
Hopefully that could be before the end of the season because the three month rehabilitation programme takes Zak to near the end of April."
