Hackett has yet to feature in the first team this season and was not included in manager Willie Donachie's "exclusive" club of first team players when he spoke to supporters at the recent Fans' Forum but despite the speculation surrounding the player and the interest from other clubs, the winger is here to stay.
"I told Chris that I wanted him to stay and fight for his place and he has made it clear that he wants to do so," Donachie told the club's official site.
"You never know what is around the corner in football. It may be that an injury, a suspension or the loss of form of another player will give Chris his chance again, and when it does I really hope he grabs it."
