Having finally disposed of Bradford City in a drab encounter at The Den last night, Millwall Football Club awoke this morning to be told that their FA Cup Third Round Tie against Stoke City has been switched to Friday, 5th January.
The Lions had expected to play the game at the Britannia Stadium on the Saturday 6th, but with Port Vale's home league fixture taking priorty, the game has been brough forward - meaning that Millwall have been unable to undetake an FA Cup match on a Saturday this season.
And Lions chairman Stuar Till is far from happy.
"We were not even consulted about an alternative," he revealed. "Apparently the police and Stoke City decided that the game would be played on the Friday night (5th January) and it was presented to us as a fait accompli.
"So yet again, our fans have to make a long trip on a week night, arriving back in the early hours of the following morning. As a result less will decide to travel to support the team who consequently also suffer.
"Why we could not have been part of the consultation process and put a case for the tie to be played on the Sunday is beyond me, and it does begin to look as though we are being singled out for 'special' treatment."
