The Lions manager blamed a lack of depth in the squad for recent results and believes the addition of up to three new faces - together with the return of Neal Ardley, Jody Morris and Tom Brighton from injury - is all that's needed to keep League One football at The Den next season.
Donachie told the club's website: "We need to sign two or three really strong players to add to what we have, and then we will be a strong squad.
"We have a big squad, but I feel we have about 12 people who are strong enough, good enough and brave enough for this league.
"But if we bring in two or three more to add to those 12, I am sure we will be fine," he added.
