Chairman threatens to quit

Millwall chairman John Berylson has hinted that he may quit The Den if fans do not heed his warnings about the random acts of hooliganism that have occurred in recent weeks.

Speaking to the South London Press, the American businessman condemn the incident at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night when a flare was thrown onto the pitch and is disappointed that supporters continue to blacken Millwall's name, despite his appeal to fans last week.

"This mindless violence is killing this club," he said. "If they want me to leave, this is how to go about it."

However, it should be pointed out to Mr. Berylson that flares are a common event in Europe, particularly in Italy, and it is only in England that such actions are frowned up by a footballing authority intent on stifling atmospheres around grounds. Should he wish to see some real mindless violence we recommend he take a look at the last time Millwall played in midweek at Luton, back in 1985, to get a sense of perspective...
