As reported on Saturday, several newspapers linked The Lions with a £1 million swoop for Manchester City centre forward Darren Huckerby. Huckerby, who enjoyed a very successful loan spell at The Den in 1996, is currently on loan at Norwich City and manager Kevin Keegan has said that he can leave once the transfer window opens in January.
Some fan sites report that Huckerby has already signed, pending a medical, but these have been hotly disputed by other sources.
Elsewhere, Millwall have also been linked to Wolves' veteran midfielder Paul Ince. Player-manager Wise was reportedly keen to offer his former England team-mate, now at Wolves, a chance to postpone his retirement but chairman Theo Paphitis has poured cold water onto the reports, stating "Signing Paul is not something we have talked about. He is a great player but we are quite strong in the midfield area."
Finally, The Lions have been linked to Raith Rovers striker John Sutton, brother of Celtic's Chris. Sutton, who was once on Tottenham Hotspur's books has been watched by Assistant Manager Ray Wilkins and it is believed Millwall may put in an offer with Mark McCammon likely to miss the rest of the season through injury.
