The Scottish youngster, who signed from Clyde in the summer, started the first five games of the campaign under Nigel Spackman but then picked up a seemingly inocuous ankle injury on the training ground which has kept him out of action for the past three months.
"For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to get my fitness back," he told the club's matchday programme on Tuesday night. "I'm hoping to be back in full training within the next three weeks and maybe playing by January.
"That's what I've got in my head but after three months out I know it wil take time to get the strength back in the ankle.
"It's been so frustrating because I felt I'd started the season well. While I've been out I've been going to all the games and everyone's been great - the fans are always asking me when I'll be back.
"I thought I'd be the forgotten man but they're always coming up to me, which just makes being out all the more frustrating.
"I came down here as a striker and I'd like to play there but I've played left midfield before and I'm happy to do so again. I'll play anywhere for Millwall."
