Brammer, who is one of the club's highest earner, has been told he no longer features in the manager's plans and had been training at his home in order to try and stay match fit. But he has now been given permission to train wat Gresty Road while he tries to fix himself up with a new club, although Alex coach Steve Holland insists he won't be signing the 33-year-old.
"Dave Brammer is back training with us, but that's all it is," Holland told Crewe's official website. "He rang me to ask me if he could come and train with us as his situation at Millwall looks like coming to a conclusion. He has been training on his own at home and I think it was getting him a bit down.
"We look after our ex-players here and Dave is always good to have around the place. There is nothing in it and it is important to state that before the rumours start flying around.
"Dave knows the situation and he is fine with that. He is injury-free but wants to work on his fitness levels and we are more than happy to oblige. It is important we get the right message across."
