It's been a while since we've done one of these - mainly because we've been linked to very few people in the last few months but 2010 has brought a hive of activity to Millwall Football Club with Southend's Lee Barnard continually being linked to the club.
Of course there has been rumour and counter rumour surrounding The Shrimpers' striker with Kenny Jackett trying to throw people off fo the sent by denying his interest in the player. Southend meanwhile have slapped a hefty fee on the player's back - one that may be too hefty for Lions chairman Johnny Berylson - but this is obviously negotiable, with some wag suggesting that Neil Harris could be going to Roots Hall in part exchange.
Only Millwall would be tempted to get rid of their leading marksman at the halfway stage of the season and its a throw back to the Reg Burr years, although back then we'd sell them in order to pay a gas bill or something and sign some journeyman on loan to take their place.
Harris, though, is apparently injured and just had a setback on his way back to recovery, so why Southend would take a crock in return for their jewel in the crown is anyone's guess, although the lack of a new contract could see Bomber leave regardless.
Elsewhere the future of Zak Whitbread is the hot topic of discussion for those who really have nothing better to do or are simply bored with life. The want-away central defender wished to leave The Den in order to further his career and his prospects of going to South Africa in the summer. Unfortunately for the Yank the only club interested in him is Naaaaarwich City, who have apparently offered something in the region of £500k for his services... half of which will go to Liddypool FC as laid down by the Treaty of Versailles. Or his sell-on clause. Can't remember which.
Jackett has already replaced Whitbread, however, with Darren Ward, the man who, like Zak, wanted to leave The Den at a similar point in his career to further his prospects. However, after a spell with Crippled Alice and Wolverhampton Wanderless he is back at The Den, showing his collection of sharp suits. It's only a matter of time before someone asks him where it all went wrong.
Also back is Rodney Trotter, on loan for a month from Ipsh*t Town. However, given the Deep Freeze we are currently experiencing his chances of adding to his tally of two appearances for The Lions looks slim.
He could have been joined by another Town player, who wished to remain anonymous and was close to signing on a full-time basis but he had a change of heart at the last minute, meaning Lewis Grabban will start upfront again on Saturday if Carlisle United can sort their pitch out in time... which seems very, very unlikely.
